G. Erró
Erró (July 19, 1932 in Ólafsvík, Iceland; real name Guðmundur Guðmundsson) is an Icelandic painter.
From 1952 to 1964 he studied at the art academy in Reykjavik and in Oslo. After his studies he traveled to Florence, where among other things he devoted himself until 1958 to explore the artistic technique of mosaic. In 1958 he moved to Paris and participated there in 1960 in the Antiproces exhibition with some of his works. From 1961 to 1966 he participated annually in the Parisian exhibition Salon de Mai. This was followed by numerous trips and exhibitions in other countries, for example, he exhibited in 1969 at the Karlsruhe Art Association (Kunst und Politik [Art and Politics]). He also filmed several films, including Grimaces (1964).
In his paintings, the painter shows a style that oscillates between surrealism and Pop Art. The modern world, with its technique and his inhumanity, appeared repeatedly in the theme of his works. He also integrates elements of comics and science fiction.
In 1977 he was awarded the French Legion of Honor (Chevalier) decoration.
One of his siblings is the noted geologist and writer Ari Trausti Guðmundsson.
He has spent most of his life between Paris, Thailand and Formentera
